NEW Podcast Release - Behind the Art X Zima Red Mashup
I am really excited to present a special podcast… Josie X Andrew - Behind the Art + Zima Red Mashup. The reason this episode is so special is because Andrew Steinwold and I discuss not only our crypto journey throughout the years but also how we are actually married! We explain why we didn't discuss our marriage publicly and talk about what we have been up to and our future plans. We had a blast filming this and hope you guys enjoy. If you all like the video we might even do a weekly show on all things NFTs and metaverse :)
How to Reserve Filter
I cannot believe that the time has finally come to release “Filter” as an NFT. I originally created this physical painting back in 2018, and since it has become my most iconic piece as it represents my logo and brand. The artwork depicts a woman with a gas mask lined by the Bitcoin white paper. The filtration of fiat to bitcoin with each breath reveals the truth of corruption in the fiat system. With her filter, she can finally take control of her own destiny and financial freedom.
This piece later became a special milestone for me. In 2019 I added augmented reality (AR) to it, and suddenly my art was alive and anyone could experience it through a free app. I released the updated piece a few days before the massive crypto conference, Consensus 2019, and the buzz was insane! I added AR to prints, t-shirts, stickers, etc. People were walking around scanning all of their gear and using the trick as a means to spread the message and ethos of the broader crypto space.
Filter is part of the Genesis Series. The series consists of my five earliest works that all started as physical paintings that were then tokenized.
Genesis, 2017 (1 NFT)
Nebula, 2018 (6 NFTs)
Acceptance, 2018 (6 NFTs)
Filter, 2018 (101 NFTs)
thankful_for_today, 2018 (yet to be released but will have 6 NFTs)
Token #0 has always gone to the owner of the physical piece of art, so you will see the actual edition labels range from #1-#5 for Nebula, Acceptance, and thankful_for_today, and #1-#100 for Filter. As you can see, Filter has a larger supply than the rest of the Genesis Series. It was important to me to make my most popular piece more accessible to the community that has supported my work over the years.
As you all know, I typically release my NFTs on a 1 per person, first come, first served basis to my community. This release will be slightly different to account for how large our space has become. A portion of the supply will be reserved for current Josie NFT holders (not every Josie NFT holder is guaranteed an automatic reservation - it depends on the amount of responses), and the remaining will be a lottery system for already existing newsletter subscribers. If you would like to reserve one, please respond to this google form in the next 24 hours. #0 will be given to the owner of the original painting, I am personally keeping #1 & #2 as I have with previous releases, and #3-#100 will be sold as described.
In the next few days I will directly contact you with an OpenSea link if you were randomly selected to purchase and you will have 24 hours to complete the purchase before the next person in line gets the opportunity. I will never ask you to send ETH directly to any wallet. All transactions will be handled on OpenSea directly from my storefront so please be very cautious of any emails or links coming from someone other than me.
“This is America” goes to Auction at Sotheby’s
In May 2020, the world came together to fight for justice for George Floyd. I made this poster for a protest in Chicago where we kneeled for 9 minutes to remember how long the officer kneeled on George Floyds neck when he murdered him.
The protest was peaceful and powerful. We started seeing public figures, companies, our family & friends stand up for the black community all around the world.
I released a NFT of “This is America” and sent it to everyone that liked/shared either of my 2 tweets on May 30th and I created a special edition for sale. 100% of the proceeds to were donated to NAACP.
I am honored to see that Pranksy is selling one of these NFT’s on the Sotheby’s platform and by doing so it exposes more people to the issues of systemic racism throughout the United States. Bidding closes October 26th at 9:48AM CDT. View the auction here.
CyberBrokers at Dreamverse NYC
Dreamverse NYC is a one-day event on Nov 4th with 2 parts: a daytime Dreamverse Gallery, curated by OG NFT artists and presented in partnership with TIME, and an evening Dreamverse Party, headlined by DJ and producer Alesso.
During the daytime, Dreamverse is a public interactive digital art experience with featured work by over 150 artists. I had an honor in being one of the 10 curators for the collection. For anyone that attends the daytime gallery portion, head to the CyberBroker display screens on the third floor to enter in a chance to reserve a CyberBroker at launch. General admission starts at $30, check out ticket options here. Follow the CyberBrokers Twitter for exact details on where to go on the day of the event to enter.
Next week’s newsletter will officially introduce the team, dive into the world of CyberBrokers and have all launch info. Stay tuned!
Great newsletter! Lots of exciting things to look forward to. Hope married life is bringing you both everything you could wish for. ❤️
CRAP! I missed the Google form by HOURS (infinite crying). I’ll cross my fingers for the next one. Huge fan of your work, keep it up!
